Radix: A Bionic Range Hood that Purifies the Air

Combining Art, Nature, and Industry

Radix is an exceptional product that combines art, nature, and industry. Designed by Mostafa Arvand & Sepideh Golgoon, this bionic range hood adjusts to human nature and controls environmental conditions, balancing the atmosphere in your kitchen.

Inspired by the biology of trees and their air-purifying capabilities, Radix aims to mimic nature's air purification system. By absorbing contaminated air and transforming it into clean air, this range hood functions just like a tree.

What sets Radix apart is its power of purification and its ability to produce the exact amount of negative ions needed to improve air quality in the shortest time possible. It automatically restores optimal ambient air conditions, ensuring perfect air quality in your kitchen.

The design of Radix is a testament to its innovative technology. The body is made from stainless steel in grey and black colors, giving it a sleek and modern look. Advanced electronic circuits make the hood smart, while an advanced molding technology ensures a seamless structure. LED lighting is integrated into the hood in a complete automatic system, preventing dust and dirt accumulation. The surface is coated with a Nano and unteachable top coat, adding durability and ease of maintenance.

Measuring 800mmx650mmx1000mm, Radix is designed to be installed on the ceiling. Once connected to power, it is ready to use. To calibrate with the new environment, it needs to be in the standard program for 10 minutes. Afterward, you can control the hood using the remote control or the app. The fan can be set to stay on a regular cycle, or you can change the speed to a desired cycle by simply touching the surface of the hood.

The Radix project started on December 2nd, 2015, and finished on January 23rd, 2016, in Tehran, Iran. The design team, led by Mostafa Arvand and Sepideh Golgoon, conducted extensive research on natural science and bionic science, studying plants' behaviors in response to environmental factors and air pollution. They transferred the knowledge gained from this research into the design of Radix.

The biggest challenge in designing Radix was transforming the mechanical structure of a regular kitchen hood into a mechanical structure that mimics a plant. The designers also focused on making the product user-friendly. After numerous laboratory tests, the final product was deemed successful and moved into mass production.

Radix has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Home Appliances Design category in 2016. This award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. Radix contributes to quality of life improvements, making the world a better place.

Radix is not just a range hood; it is a piece of art that brings nature into your kitchen. With its innovative technology and commitment to air purification, Radix ensures a clean and healthy cooking environment.
